Trust
Tyler and I adopted a sweet eight-week-old puppy this weekend. She had been rescued from a sad situation by Macon County Humane Society. She caught our attention as soon as we saw her sweet demeanor, beautiful coat, and pleading eyes. Tyler came up with the name 'Ruthie' for the beloved new member of our family.
Tyler and I both had dogs while growing up, and we knew we wanted one after getting settled as newlyweds. Despite our past experience with dogs, we knew it would be a bit of an adjustment bringing home a fur baby of our very own. After adopting her, she amazed us with how calm and loving she already was. We watched with pride as she performed her 'business' outside, eagerly sought comfort in her new crate, and made friends with two neighborhood dogs. She didn't even have an accident her first day, and she slept without a peep her first night!
In the few days since, she has had a couple of accidents and she has woken us up once in the middle of the night. She is still shy when meeting new dogs, and she doesn't trust the noisy washing machine or watering hose just yet. Tyler and I love to watch her as she discovers new things around every corner. It will take her a while to figure out this whole puppy thing, and we love helping her along the way. Having a pocket full of treats at the ready definitely helps. ;)
What I truly love seeing in Ruthie is how she is learning to trust Tyler and me as her parents. She is beginning to see us as the people who care for her, love her, and watch out for her. She listens to our voice, and she seeks comfort in our presence. Ruthie looks to us to provide for her every need. She rests easy knowing she is under our protection. Her love grows for us daily as she sees how much we care for her.
It's a beautiful picture of our relationship with our Father. I've had a few more years than Ruthie to see how he continues to lavish His love and blessings on me. I want to trust Him as fully as what I see in our sweet baby girl. I know He is good and faithful to not only lead me in the right direction when necessary but also let me explore when there is more to learn. He is kind and loving, with my best interest at heart.
I can trust in Him through every situation.
I can rest easy knowing He is in me and with me.
I can do all things through Him.
Thank You, Daddy.
