Hurt

I am overwhelmed by the amount of hurt I have seen the past few days. I am also shaken to see a large amount of hatred boil up as a result. I am not using this post to take sides or give political opinions. I just hurt for the hurting, and I'm thankful I know the one solution.

"Lord, You alone are my portion and my cup; You make my lot secure.

The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance.

I will praise the Lord, who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me.

I will keep my eyes always on the Lord.

With Him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.

Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body will also rest secure,

because You will not abandon me to the realm of the dead, nor will You let Your faithful one see decay.

Psalms 16:5-10

Our God is a faithful Father who works all things for our good. He is sovereign and good and loving. Whether you are filled with joy, indifference, or distress by the election results, our Daddy is still on His throne ruling with love and endless grace.

And although God is all-powerful, He also gives us the freedom to choose. What an amazingly powerful thought! He dearly wants a relationship with us, but He will never force Himself on us. I was actually overwhelmed by this fact as election day loomed closer and closer. Daddy helped me better grasp the freedom of choice we all have. I believe our God has a plan for the ultimate good of our country, and we can choose to partner with or reject it. I believe, in this time of apparent darkness, hurt, and hatred, there is truly a greater possibility of His light shining through. His will is higher and greater than we can imagine, yet He is kind enough to give us sweet glimpses and teach us how to partner with Him if we only ask Him. He sees our thirst and hunger for more of Him, and He wants to flood our country with His grace and goodness like never before.

"You heavens above, rain down my righteousness;

Let the clouds shower it down.

Let the earth open wide, let salvation spring up,

Let righteousness flourish with it;

I, the Lord, have created it."

Isaiah 45:8

Father, I thank You for Your plan for our country. I pray for wisdom for our leaders and unity for our people. Turn our hearts towards You and Your loving will. I pray for salvation that sweeps the land like never before. Overwhelm us with Your powerful and intimate love.
