So the next generation would know.
"We will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, His power, and the wonders He has done... so the next generation would know them, even the children yet to be born, and they in turn would tell their children. Then they would put their trust in God and would not forget His deeds but would keep His commands." Psalm 78:4, 6-7
This past Wednesday morning, I became overwhelmed by God's goodness. I was sitting with over twenty women, both students and teachers, as we met for our weekly women's bible study. I was flooded with emotions as I listened to women between ages fifteen and fifty share how the Father was displaying His goodness in their lives and teaching them more about His loving ways. Women were sharing very personal experiences, some which had been extremely painful, and the resounding message was of God's faithfulness. Daddy whispered in my ear how pleased He was with our growing community.
This group began last year when several young women in my school approached one of our teachers about starting a women's bible study. She felt God's blessing on this idea, and she asked me to join in on the journey. I am seeing so much fruit from this group, and I am humbled to be a part of it. This blossoming group has shown me just how eager Daddy is to meet each of us in a personal and intimate way. He wants to break down strongholds and shine boldly in our school. He wants teachers and students to move past impersonal conversations and trivial matters. He is shaking things up and asking us to partner with Him. He has bigger plans than we can even imagine.
Our Daddy has a strong desire to see multiple generations come together and tell of His good works. He is pleased when we become transparent and share the unabashed truth. When we impart wisdom and seek counsel. When we break bread together and give thanks for His abundant provision. When we humble ourselves and become vulnerable with each other. When we laugh, cry, sing, and join together in silence as His Spirit holds us close.
According to the Psalms, our time spent together is even sowing into the generations to come. Our prodigal stories and tales of miracles are enabling the next generation to gain hope and trust in our Papa. And the childlike innocence and wonder of the younger generations remind the older generations of the pure and exciting truths of the Gospel. We need each other to truly thrive as the body of Christ. We need people of all talents and callings. We need people who have walked through different trials to help us better understand the miraculous grace and goodness of our Father. We need to listen as men and women, young and old share the messages our Daddy has placed on their heart. We are all journeying in this life together. We are meant to commune together, to share our hearts, to seek after Him. And He has promised that we will find Him
