Refusing the Lie
At some point in each of our lives, a lie will surface that speaks against our calling and tempts us to reevaluate.
A young man with a troubled past is trying to start over. He is seeking a dependable job that will provide for his family, but another employer has rejected him due to his criminal record.
A new mother is learning how to love and care for her baby boy. The demands of the day are never ending, sleep eludes her, and finances seem to be dwindling away.
A teacher believes she is at her breaking point. She became a teacher to make a difference in the lives of children, but she feels ineffective and exhausted.
A young couple is trying to have a baby. They arrive at the doctor's office with joy and anticipation, but they leave with overwhelming disappointment.
A loving husband and father of three is diagnosed with a terminable disease. The family cannot make sense of this staggering news.
I am writing this post as a declaration against the enemy and the powers of this world. When the Father speaks to His children about their divine purpose, no lie can trump that. We can hold onto the truth of our Daddy and refuse the lies of the enemy. He is for us, guiding us, loving us, and calling out our divine purpose. The world and its distractions may be inevitable, but our Anchor will hold.
David's encounter with Goliath springs to my mind. The situation screamed that David was weak, puny, defenseless. Yet David knew he was called to become a king. David held on to the promise of his Father and defeated a GIANT. Yes, a giant. Obstacles to our calling may loom overhead and seem inescapable, but our God is always mightier.
Let's declare His truth over our situation and stand firm in His arms. Let's refuse to take hold of a lie.
